A resurgent the Russian player claimed his initial trophy for 882 days with victory over Corentin Moutet in the competition final.

The athlete, a ex- world number one, has experienced a difficult season, winning just one win at the Grand Slams and suffering a setback at the American major.

The player's varied form on the ATP Tour - and issues with his service game in particular - resulted in him exiting of the top ten and finally separating with former mentor his previous coach.

Presently training with his coach and his other coach, Medvedev has consistently progressed in the recent weeks - climaxing in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's first title since the Rome competition and first on a hard surface after spring of the previous year.

Victory also signifies Medvedev has secured twenty-one victories at 21 distinct events.

"It's the first time I'm at a competition with my children simultaneously, so to win a title is really nice," commented tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in honour of my second daughter her name, because the first title I won when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had failed in his last six title deciders, including in the German tournament previously this season.

His defensive strategy and frequent reactions on the playing surface had led some to wonder if his skill to compete at the elite level was finished.

However the player has implemented adjustments in the past month, attempting to advance forward and perform positively, supported by an improved serving game.

The champion came back from a break down in the initial set against the difficult Moutet, winning 4 of the concluding five games to go ahead.

Both players exchanged service breaks in the following set before the challenger, striving for his initial tour victory, gained dominance to force a final set.

He defended four initial break points in a close third set before the champion won the break to fifteen to serve for the match.

Appropriately, the winner secured the win with a shot at the net, with Moutet incapable to control a return after a lengthy match.
